Why I am looking for a Cairn Terrier :
I had a rescue first cross cairn 30-29=0 years ago (since had a rescue patterdale and then rescue lurcher. Daisy died 12th April). I loved her character and everything about her.
I need a new companion and think a cairn would be ideal.
A typical day for my new dog would be:
get up and short walk (30 mins approx,
feed, rest, play.
lunchtime walk (30 -60 mins)
rest and play
feed
walk (30 - 60 mins)
rest and play
bedtime walk (15-30 min)
I retire at the end of July so will have lots of time for a puppy. I currently walk for 1 - 2 hours a day, can do more.
I may need to do some part-time work in my school next year to cover some mat leave, but have agreed only on condition my puppy can come with me. I have three exercise classes a week and of course have shopping etc. The pup will either come with me or will be at home with the radio or tv. If I need to be out for more than a couple of hours I have a dog walker ready to visit. We will walk on country lanes, open fields and moorland as well as through the local estate. I plan to go to socialisation then training classes so that we speak the same language.
I always plan for the dog to sleep in the kitchen, but they somehow manage to have a bed next to mine .
